The White House dis­missed the idea of bring­ing law­mak­ers back from their sum­mer recess to pass an exten­sion of the fed­er­al evic­tion mora­to­ri­um for renters affect­ed by the coro­n­avirus pandemic.
Press sec­re­tary Jen Psa­ki sug­gest­ed that con­gres­sion­al Democ­rats lacked the polit­i­cal momen­tum any­way to clear a mea­sure help­ing keep renters in their homes, even if they lost their jobs because of the COVID-19 out­break, through either chamber.
