Romney Dismisses Rumors Biden Approached Him for Potential Cabinet Position

Sen. Mitt Romney (R‑Utah) on Tuesday dismissed rumors that Democratic presidential candidate Joe Bidenapproached him to serve in his administration in the event he is declared president-elect by the Electoral College.

“The answer is, no, I have not been approached nor will I be approached, and I’m not going to be part of the Biden administration,” Romney told reporters during a Zoom call, The Hill reported.

“I have no idea who made that story up,” Romney said. “I commented at the time: I’ve not been approached by the Biden team. I will not be approached by the Biden team. And I would never take a job where I had to follow in the footsteps of Michael Leavitt.”

“Mike Leavitt was the best HHS secretary this country has ever had, and I would never follow him because I could never keep up,” Romney added.

Romney will continue to hold his Senate seat and will be up for reelection in 2024.
