Checking in to gyms, cinemas and hospitality businesses with a QR code has become mandatory in today.
Premier Mark McGowan said more than 260,000 people had already downloaded the new SafeWA app with QR code registering to become mandatory from Saturday.
Hospitality venues, gyms, cinemas and other businesses will be required to keep track of patrons or risk fines of up to $250,000.
The app is for businesses to access the free QR code for patrons to scan, rather than creating one themselves or being forced to keep paper records.
Those who already have QR codes in place are not required to download the SafeWA app.
