BRADDOCK, Penn­syl­va­nia — Exact­ly two years ago, U.S. Steel Cor­po­ra­tion announced that the com­pa­ny would turn its Mon Val­ley oper­a­tions into a key source of light­weight steel for the auto­mo­tive industry.
At the time, local lead­ers and com­pa­ny offi­cials called the invest­ment “trans­for­ma­tion­al.”
