Fulton County Commission Took $6.3 Million from Mark Zuckerberg

The Ful­ton Coun­ty Board of Com­mis­sion­ers accept­ed a stag­ger­ing $6.3 mil­lion grant from a group fund­ed by Face­book’s founder and CEO Mark Zucker­berg, accord­ing to reports.

Dur­ing a Sep­tem­ber 2, 2020 board meet­ing, the com­mis­sion in the Geor­gia coun­ty vot­ed to accept $6.3M from Zucker­berg’s Cen­ter for Tech­nol­o­gy and Civic Life “Safe Elec­tions” project.

Despite the size of the dona­tion from a sin­gle par­ty, the board decid­ed to take the mon­ey with­out a pub­lic discussion.

It then took the unusu­al steps of pro­ceed­ing to accept the grant with­out ask­ing a sin­gle ques­tion about the orga­ni­za­tion pro­vid­ing the cash.
