Dow rallies more than 400 points to surpass 30,000 for the first time

The Dow Jones Indus­tri­al Aver­age ral­lied on Tues­day, break­ing above 30,000 for the first time as this month’s ral­ly in beat­en-down val­ue stocks con­tin­ued to pick up steam amid pos­i­tive vac­cine news and hope for a strong eco­nom­ic recovery.

The Dow Jones Indus­tri­al Aver­age trad­ed high­er by 436 points, or 1.5%, and breached the 30,000 lev­el for the first time. Tuesday’s ral­ly also put the Dow up more than 13% for the month and on track for its biggest month­ly gain since 1987. The S&P 500 climbed 1.5%, putting it on pace for a record clos­ing high, and the Nas­daq Com­pos­ite advanced 1%.The small-cap Rus­sell 2000 also hit an all-time high.
